People and armed forces of the northern city of Phu Ly made great contributions to the struggle against the American invaders, said a state leader.
Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan made the comment at a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30).
On behalf of the Party and State, Doan granted the title of “Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces” to the Lam Ha Commune Anti-aircraft Militia Company that stood by other forces to shoot down 18 US fighter planes during the war.
In addition, Doan praised the city’s achievements in its efforts to become the political and socio-economic hub of Ha Nam province.
