Piaggio launches second plant in Vietnam

Italian scooter maker, Piaggio, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its second plant in Vietnam’s northern province of Vinh Phuc on April 6.
Italian scooter maker, Piaggio, held a groundbreaking ceremony for itssecond plant in Vietnam’s northern province of Vinh Phuc on April6.

The plant, which cost 40 million USD, covers anarea of 20,000 sq. m and is capable of producing 100,000 scooters a year,according to Piaggio Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, RobertoColannino.

The plant is expected to raise its capacity to 300,000 scooters by mid-2012.

Piaggioestablished its first plant in Vietnam in June 2009. The 30 millionUSD plant churns out about 100,000 scooters a year.

Piaggio is the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world with operations in 50 countries./.

Quang Tri province mobilises resources for fisheries infrastructure

The provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to prepare an investment proposal for upgrading and expanding the Con Co storm shelter in Con Co special zone.
