Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc has directed that each ministry and locality must devise adetailed plan to fulfill set targets, in which responsibilities of individualsand units must be specified.

The PM made the request during themonthly government meeting in Hanoi on May 4 which discussed the socio-economicperformance in April and the first four months of this year as well as specificmeasures to ensure that economic growth targets for the remaining quarters andthe whole year are met.

The government is resolved to achievethe economic growth of 6.7 percent this year and sees that it is achievable, hesaid.

He hailed the progress in tourism,foreign direct investment attraction, public investment disbursement,manufacturing and exports in April and the past four months.

The Ministry of Industry and Tradewas asked to review key commodities, especially oil and gas production whichshould be increased by 1-1.5 million tonnes while coal mining amounts to 2million tonnes and the manufacturing and processing industry grows at least 13percent. Sufficient energy supply must be ensured and 12 loss-making projects bedealt with soon.

He noted that the ministry needs toclosely track hygiene of farm produce and actively partner with the Ministry ofPublic Security to strictly punish multi-level marketing violations.

The leader required the constructionsector to develop a healthy real estate market with a focus on accommodationfor workers and social housing, and the tourism sector to grow 30 percent fromlast year and serve 15 million foreigners this year.

The PM said the agricultural sector shouldensure its growth of over 3 percent and strive to earn at least 33 billion USDfrom exports this year.

Ministries, agencies and localities mustaccelerate the equitisation of State-owned enterprises, curb the consumptionprice index below 4 percent, and allocate capital to prioritized fields,including agriculture, small- and medium-sized enterprises, exports, especiallydisbursing the 100-trillion-VND package designed for high-tech agriculturalfirms.

Speeding up the economicrestructuring in combination with renewing growth model in a practical andeffective manner is important to implementing the resolutions set by theNational Party Congress and the National Assembly, he said.

On social safety and order, he calledfor attention to dealing with hotspots, especially in the land issue to ensurelegitimate interests of the people, and illegal sand exploitation anddeforestation.

The leader asked for continued workto ensure street pavement order and prevent traffic congestions in major urbanareas, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the event, President ofthe Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested thegovernment increase State capital disbursement, hasten SOEs equitisation and improvethe business climate.

He urged for overseeing nationalproducts, especially those with 1 billion USD-plus export value, as well as keytransport works.

Closing the session, the PM assigned theDeputy PMs and Cabinet members to make reports to submit to the legislature,especially those regarding the building of law.-VNA

Vietnam, RoK step up cooperation in transport infrastructure

Minh noted that in transport, the RoK is currently Vietnam’s second-largest bilateral donor.
