PM: Lunar New Year comes with new energy

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh chaired a meeting of permanent Cabinet members in Hanoi on January 27,speaking of new energy of the nation following Tet (Lunar New Year), thebiggest festival in Vietnam.

The festival took place in a happy, healthy, safe andeconomical fashion in all localities and families, the PM said, pointing tomajor tasks for ministries, agencies and localities in the time ahead.

Tasks and solutions set in resolutions adopted by theParty, the National Assembly and the Government, particularly the Government’s ResolutionNo. 1/NQ-CP dated January 6, 2023, need to be realised towards the fulfillmentof socio-economic tasks this year, he stressed.

The PM asked ministries, agencies and localities to acceleratepublic investment disbursement, the implementation of three national targetprogrammes, which cover socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabitedand mountainous areas, sustainable poverty reduction, and new-style rural areabuilding, and focus on the building of a national data centre.

They were also requested to review the allocation ofcapital sourced from budget collection increases, with priorities given to suchspheres as wages, national defence and security, and transport and socialinfrastructure.

PM Chinh stressed the need to create a legalframework to unlock resources in service of national development, mentioning amendmentsto the decree on oil and gas business.

According to a report presented at the meeting, the 63cities and provinces earmarked about 9.5 trillion VND (404.81 million USD) tosupport 25 million needy people during the Tet holiday.

National defence, political security, social order andsafety were intensified on this occasion, and cultural, sport, tourism and communicationactivities were held in diverse forms, the report said./.
