Hanoi (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the ongoing visit to Vietnam by Chairman ofthe Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China Chen Wu during a reception in Hanoion April 20 for the latter, saying it will promote cooperation opportunitiesbetween the governments, people and businesses of the two nations. 

The PM emphasised the importanceof realising common agreements and perceptions by senior leaders of the twoParties and States as well as further boosting the comprehensive partnershipbetween Guangxi and Vietnam, and between Guangxi and Vietnamese borderlocalities in particular.

He suggested continuing toupgrade existing mechanisms towards creating the most favourable conditions forcustoms clearance at border gates, and asked Guangxi to facilitate cross-bordertrade, promptly pilot the one-stop shop mechanism, and develop logisticsinfrastructure to raise two-way trade.

PM Phuc agreed with Chen’s proposalto upgrade transport connectivity between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities,saying that both sides could consider building and renovating bridges to boosttrade ties.

Welcoming Guangxi’s capable firmsto do business in Vietnam, the leader said the two sides should also increasecooperation in the fields of culture, health care, education, labour andpeople-to-people exchanges, as well as in the fight against crimes and maintaininga borderline of peace and friendship, thus contributing positively to thecommon achievements between the two Parties, States and people.

Chen, for his part, said hisvisit aims to continue realising common agreements and perceptions by seniorleaders of the two Parties and States.

He noted the success of PM Phuc’sofficial visit to China in October 2016 and his attendance at the China-ASEANExpo (CAEXPO), which he said, opened up a lot of opportunities to step up the comprehensivecooperation between people and businesses of the two countries.

Guangxi will do its best toconnect bilateral cooperation ideas, especially those to raise two-way tradeand build infrastructure at border gates, he said.

According to the Chinese official,Guangxi-Vietnam trade value accounts for one-third of the trade turnoverbetween Guangxi and other countries in the world. Therefore, the province wantsto promptly pilot the “Two Countries, One Destination” mechanism to facilitatecustoms clearance at border gates.

Chen proposed choosing severaloutstanding products for the pilot mechanism such as Vietnam’s watermelon andChina’s apple.

Guangxi wants to enhance road andrailway transport connectivity with Vietnamese border provinces and upgradeborder gates, he said, adding that the two sides could fortify collaboration ineducation, culture and health care.

Chen promised to continue buildinga borderline of peace and friendship with Vietnam, step up the fight againstcross-border smuggling and transnational crimes, and well prepare for the upcomingCAEXPO in which Vietnam is expected to participate.-VNA
