Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed the Vietnamese Government’ constant support for defence cooperation between Vietnam and Japan , especially the implementation of bilateral agreements.
Dung was speaking at a May 29 reception for Japan ’s Chief of Joint Staff of Defence Forces General Shigeru Iwasaki during his ongoing working visit to Hanoi , adding this will contribute to regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.
The PM highly valued the results of talks between Iwasaki and the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. He said the implementation of the agreement reached at the talks will contribute to multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Iwasaki expressed his wish that Vietnam will create favourable conditions for defence cooperation, especially in the fields of humanitarian assistance, military medicine, the fight against terrorism, search and rescue and information technology.
He confirmed that Japan supported the resolution of disputes over the East Sea through peaceful negotiations and based on international law.-VNA
