The Vietnamese Government will keep up efforts to forge the best possible business climate for foreign firms in general and Japanese ones in particular to operate in Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed at a dialogue with business leaders in Tokyo on December 13.

Addressing executives from many leading Japanese corporations including Mitsubishi, Honda, Hitachi , Sumitomo and Canon, PM Dung noted that Vietnam takes the foreign investors’ success as its own, as it contributes greatly to socio-economic development and job creation in the country.

He also explained the Vietnamese Government’s viewpoint and actions involving three economic breakthroughs which are perfecting the market economy, mobilising all available resources for transport infrastructure and boosting vocational training to meet the need of foreign investors.

Vietnam has been focusing its efforts on completing the legal framework on business and investment, while adjusting tax and financial incentives, with a view to attracting investment in hi-tech, support industry, high value-added industry and encouraging the involvement of both public and private sectors in infrastructure, he said.

The Government leader informed participants that a draft revised Law on Housing will be submitted to the National Assembly soon, which will make it easier for foreigners to buy homes in Vietnam .
He added that regulations on the State management in foreign direct investment will be issued, and construction of hydropower plants under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model will be stepped up to ensure power for production.

Japanese corporations affirmed their intention to expand their production and business activities in Vietnam, saying that they hope to see improvements in support industry, infrastructure and power supply.
