PM vows to continue facilitating operation of Japanese firms

The Vietnamese Government will keep up efforts to forge the best possible business climate for foreign firms in general and Japanese ones in particular to operate in Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed at a dialogue with business leaders in Tokyo on December 13.

Addressing executives from many leading Japanese corporations includingMitsubishi, Honda, Hitachi , Sumitomo and Canon, PM Dung noted thatVietnam takes the foreign investors’ success as its own, as itcontributes greatly to socio-economic development and job creation inthe country.

He also explained the Vietnamese Government’sviewpoint and actions involving three economic breakthroughs which areperfecting the market economy, mobilising all available resources fortransport infrastructure and boosting vocational training to meet theneed of foreign investors.

Vietnam has been focusing itsefforts on completing the legal framework on business and investment,while adjusting tax and financial incentives, with a view to attractinginvestment in hi-tech, support industry, high value-added industry andencouraging the involvement of both public and private sectors ininfrastructure, he said.

The Government leader informedparticipants that a draft revised Law on Housing will be submitted tothe National Assembly soon, which will make it easier for foreigners tobuy homes in Vietnam .
He added that regulations on theState management in foreign direct investment will be issued, andconstruction of hydropower plants under the BOT (build-operate-transfer)model will be stepped up to ensure power for production.

Japanese corporations affirmed their intention to expand theirproduction and business activities in Vietnam, saying that they hopeto see improvements in support industry, infrastructure and powersupply.
They also urged Vietnam to work on taxation,high-quality human resources training and protection of intellectualproperty rights.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
