Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), should be developed into a leading national research university, said the Prime Minister on March 18.
The university should accelerate technological transfer, high-quality human resource training and expand international cooperation, Dung said at his meeting with the university’s teachers, scientists and students.
He reiterated the country's policy of considering human resources development as one of the three strategic breakthroughs to turn the country into an industrial nation by 2020.
At the meeting, Dung and leaders of concerned ministries and branches considered and gave opinions on the university’s proposals, which included a pilot project to attract talented lecturers and scientists.
On the occasion, the PM delivered his decision to appoint Phung Xuan Nha, an alternative member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, as VNU director.-VNA
