The traditional friendship between Vietnam and Poland has been strengthened through time, with numerous delegation exchanges of all sectors to enhance mutual understanding and experience sharing, said Nguyen Dang Cuong, Deputy President of the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Association (VPFA).
Cuong made the remarks at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on May 3 to mark Polish Constitution Day. He said the 50-year ties between Vietnam and Poland are based on a sound traditional friendship and all-around cooperation.
He expressed his belief that the ties will continue to develop for the mutual benefit of both countries, and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and world.
Vietnam treasures the support that the Polish Government and people gave to the country during its struggle for independence and freedom in the past, as well as its current national defence and construction cause, he said.
Polish Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Jacek Kaprzyk affirmed that his country hopes to further foster its friendship with Vietnam. He noted that over the past years, leaders of both countries have frequently met each other, while 4,000 Vietnamese students have studied in Poland.
Recognising Ho Chi Minh City as a major economic and trade hub of Vietnam and the region, Poland will open its promotion agencies in the city, focusing on economic and cultural cooperation, he said.
The event was jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the VPFA.-VNA
