Polish President hails overseas Vietnamese role in bilateral cooperation

Visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Poland plays a significant role in maintaining and developing the relations between the two countries.

Hanoi (VNA) –
Visiting PolishPresident Andrzej Duda affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Poland plays asignificant role in maintaining and developing the relations between the twocountries.

He made the affirmation while meeting with PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on November 28, noting he is particularlyinterested in promoting economic partnership with Vietnam, including tourism.

Poland wants to increase the number of touriststo Vietnam and promote balanced trade with the Southeast Asian country, headded.

He hoped the Vietnamese Government will activelysupport Polish businesses to make investment here.

Poland has chosen Vietnam as one of the top fivepotential countries to promote cooperation, he said, adding that the PolishGovernment will urge the EU to sign and ratify the EVFTA as soon as possible.

For his part, PM Phuc urged the two countries toreinforce the cooperation mechanisms and seek more effective ones as well asresume the meeting of the joint committee on science cooperation to aid thedevelopment of the sector.

The Vietnamese Government welcomes Poland toopen its trade representative office in the southern economic hub of Ho ChiMinh City, he said.

He supported the two sides to promotecooperation in the fields of mining, shipbuilding, food processing and tourismas well as open a direct air route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City andWarszawa.

The PM also lauded Vietnam and Poland forsigning a cooperation agreement in education, of which Poland agreed toincrease the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students. 

He suggested the two countries enhance exchangesamong students, especially in the field of Poland’s strength such as mining.

PM Phuc proposed Poland urge the EU to sign andratify the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement to bring mutual benefits.

He hoped the Polish President will create morefavourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live in Poland.

During the State visit to Vietnam by PresidentAndrzej Duda, his spouse Agata Kornhauser Duda visited Marie Curie high schoolthe same day and attended a ceremony to celebrate the 150th birthdayanniversary of Polish scholar Marie Curie.

She later visited the Temple of Literature inHanoi, which was included in the list of 23 national special relic sites.

Later on the day, a State banquet was hosted byPresident Tran Dai Quang and his spouse for visiting Polish President AndrzejDuda, his spouse and entourage.-VNA
