Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Do Ba Ty pushed for the careful preparation of the 24 th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM-24) and related events while chairing a meeting in Hanoi on October 13.
Hosting these events is politically significant and will strengthen the military ties between the VPA and its foreign partners, said Ty, who is also Deputy Minister of National Defence.
All preparations must be completed by October 20 in the run up to the events, also including the 15 th ASEAN Conference of Army Commanders, and the 4 th Conference of ASEAN Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, he said.
The AARM started in 1990 at the initiative of the ASEAN Chiefs of Army, aiming to strengthen solidarity, mutual understanding and friendship between ASEAN militaries. It is held annually on a rotational basis.
This year’s event will be held in Hanoi from November 19-28.-VNA
