President Ho Chi Minh - A “special voter”

During Vietnam’s first General Election in 1946, out of deep respect and affection for President Ho Chi Minh, the chairpersons of People’s Committees and all village representatives in Hanoi unanimously submitted a petition requesting that he be exempted from standing as a candidate. By then, he had already been honoured by the entire nation as the permanent President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
