Hanoi (VNA) –The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi will be closed to visitors formaintenance from June 15 to August 15, according to the mausoleum’s ManagementBoard.
In its statement, theboard said that the adjacent Monument to Heroic Martyrs will be also closed inthe same period for annual maintenance and renovation.
The sites will resumeoperation from August 16, said the statement.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleumis an important landmark of Hanoi capital city and stands integrated to thepolitical and social history of Vietnam.
After his death onSeptember 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh was embalmed and put for view in thisgranite mausoleum. The mausoleum, modelled after Lenin's tomb in Moscow, wasbuilt in two years, from 1973 to 1975, with materials donated by people fromall over the country.
The mausoleum welcomednearly 51,000 visitors, including 11,500 foreigners during holidays incelebration of the 43rd National Reunification Day (April 30) and InternationalWorkers’ Day (May 1) this year.-VNA
