Hanoi (VNA) –President Tran Dai Quang hosted a banquet in Hanoi on November 11 evening inhonour of President Donald Trump and a high-ranking delegation of the US, whohave been on a two-day State visit to Vietnam. 

Speaking at the event, President Quangrecalled ups and downs in history of bilateral ties which have been elevated tothe level of strategic partnership on the basis of mutual respect to eachother’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regime, andjoint efforts for peace, stability, cooperation and development in theAsia-Pacific.

He congratulated the US Presidenton his effective and successful working days within the framework of the APEC2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting in the central city of Da Nang, thus contributingto the success of the event.

President Quang spoke highly ofthe US President’s speech at the APEC Business Summit, affirming the US’sstrong and long-term commitments to the Asia-Pacific, Indian Ocean and adjacentregions, and wished that the US would further uphold its important role over regionalcountries.

While lauding the US President’svisit as an important milestone that opens an immense future for the two countriesto write new chapters of history, President Quang believed that amid uncertainregional and global developments, comprehensive, stable and mutually-beneficialties between Vietnam and the US will be a positive factor that makes importantcontributions to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development inthe region and the world.

In reply, President Trump expressedhis delight to visit Vietnam at a time when the bilateral strategic partnershipis witnessing unprecedented strides.

He congratulated Vietnam on itswonderful achievements in the process of socio-economic development anddescribed Vietnam as one of the miracles in the world, a country with afast-growing economy.

On this occasion, the USPresident extended his sympathy over great losses in humans and property causedby storm Damrey in the central, the Central Highlands and south central regions.,and expressed his belief that local people in natural disaster-hit areas willsoon overcome difficulties.-VNA
