President Truong Tan Sang has affirmed the State always pays attention to creating favourable conditions for fishermen to keep doing their job at sea.
Sang made the affirmation while talking with fishermen at Ky Ha fishing port in Nui Thanh district on April 14 as part of his visit to the central coastal province of Quang Nam.
The leader said he will continue to work with agencies and organisations to seek effective solutions to support fishermen.
He urged the fishermen to consolidate their unions to help each other at sea, contributing to the locality’s economic development and protecting national security and sovereignty.
The president expressed his delight to see the bustling atmosphere at Ky Ha and changes in the local socio-economic conditions.
The fishermen said they hope to receive more support of the Party and State so that they can continue fishing.
They asked for longer term loans and more assistance in terms of fishing tools and fuel as more and more fishermen are sailing farther off-shore where there are many potential risks awaiting them.
While visiting the Marine Police Zone 2, Sang praised efforts made by the armed forces in general and the Marine Police Zone 2 in particular in patrolling and monitoring the enforcement of laws in the sea, especially search and rescue work at sea and support for fishermen.
He said the marine police should to try their best to ensure local people can conduct normal fishing activities while helping prevent and fight smuggling at sea.
During the trip, President Sang also toured the Quang Nam Central General Hospital , which is the most modern medical facility in the central-Central Highlands region.
The same day, the leader made a site trip to Truong Hai auto engine manufacturing project, which is designed to have an annual capacity of 20,000 engines.
The 4.4 trillion VND project is expected to serve as a locomotive for industrial development in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.-VNA
