As part of his state visit to Malaysia, Vietnamese President Truong TanSang received former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in KualaLumpur on Sept. 30.
Mahathir Mohamad spoke highly of Sang’sselection of Malaysia as one of the first countries to visit after hetook office, and expressed his belief that the visit would be a success,making important contributions to bringing the bilateral relationshipto a new height.
President Sang affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the friendly and traditional relations with Malaysia.
Thetwo sides noted with pleasure the fruitful development of theVietnam-Malaysia relationship, both bilaterally and multilaterally, andagreed to expand and deepen the relationship in the coming time.
Theyhighly valued the two countries’ close cooperation and coordination atregional and international forums as well as promoting cooperation inbuilding the ASEAN Community.
The two sides emphasised the needto maintain peace and stability in the East Sea, peacefully settle thedisputes, abide by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of theSea, strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in theEast Sea (DOC), and build a Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea(COC).
The same day, President Sang called at the QualityHero factory, where a large number of Vietnamese workers are working. Hethen visited the administrative city of Putrajaya.
On theafternoon of Sept. 30, the Vietnamese State leader departed for the homecountry, wrapping up his three-day visit to Malaysia.
Within theframework of the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan visitedthe Scientific and Technological Centre of Hicom Group, while Ministerof Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen received theMalaysian Deputy Minister of Human Resource./.
