President To Lam on July 15 sent condolences to victims of a recent severe landslide that occured in Ta Mo hamlet, Yen Dinh commune, Bac Me district, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, and their families.

Hanoi (VNA) - President To Lam on July 15 sent condolences to victims of a recent severe landslide that occured in Ta Mo hamlet, Yen Dinh commune, Bac Me district, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, and their families.

The landslide on early July 13 claimed 11 lives and left four others injured.

The President said he was moved to know that as soon as the landslide occured, many people who witnessed the incident promotly resuced those in distress. Tragically, three individuals of them died.

Besides, he praised search and rescue forces for their efforts and timely action and overcoming consequences of the landslide. He urged the Ha Giang authorities to urgently review areas at risk of landslides and proactively have plans responding to unexpected disasters, as well as promptly honour and commend brave examples.

On the same day, the President decided to present four individuals from Hanoi with the Bravery Order for their courageous efforts in rescuing victims in a recent fire incident in the city’s Cau Giay district./.
