President wraps up Thailand visit, APEC meeting attendance

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on November 19, successfully concluding his official visit to Thailand and attendance in the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

Hanoi (VNA) - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse, and ahigh-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoion November 19, successfully concluding his official visit to Thailand andattendance in the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) EconomicLeaders’ Meeting.

During thevisit, President Phuc held talks with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. The twoleaders witnessed the signing and exchange of cooperation documents andco-chaired a press conference. The Vietnamese President and his entourage visiteda booth displaying Thai handicrafts and attended a banquet hosted by PrimeMinister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his spouse.

PresidentNguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife had meetings with King Maha Vajiralongkorn andQueen Suthida, and President ofthe National Assembly Chuan Leekpai.

He received the Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association andmet with leaders of a number of leading Thai businesses and corporations investingin Vietnam such as SCG, Amata and CP. He also had a meeting with 350 typicalVietnamese and Thai enterprises attending the Opening Ceremony of VietnameseProducts Week in Thailand, and visited officials and staff of the Vietnameseembassy and consulate general as well as overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.

At the 29th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, the Vietnamese leader attended the firstsession, the APEC Leaders' InformalDialogue with Guests, and the APEC Leaders' and Guests' WorkingLunch. 

Healso attended the plenary session and a dialogue between leadersof APEC economies and members of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the secondsession and a gala dinner hosted by the Thai Prime Minister and his spouse.

Onthe sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, President Phuc had aseries of bilateral meetings with leaders of APEC member economies includingChina, the US, the Philippines, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Australia,Canada, France, Chile and Peru. He also met with the Crown Prince and PrimeMinister of Saudi Arabia, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong (China) SpecialAdministrative Region and the Managing Director of the International MonetaryFund (IMF)./.

Vietnam values Italy’s leading role in Europe: NA Chairman

NA Chairman meets with Italian President

Vietnam and Italy should promote the role of their legislative bodies and enhance oversight of the implementation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements. In particular, they should expand cooperation into emerging fields where Italy has strengths and Vietnam has demand, such as science and technology, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and high-quality human resource training.

NA Chairman meets Italy’s Communist Reconstruction Party leader in Rome

Regarding future cooperation orientations, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two parties enhance mutual understanding and exchanges, deepen relations in a substantive manner, and promote their roles in strengthening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. He called for increased people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, arts, education and training, tourism, and locality-to-locality links.
