Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung expressed wish that the Vietnamese and Thai armies will continue effectively implementing cooperation agreements on exchanging training and rescue experience as well as coordinating in their joint sea patrols.
Dung made the remark in Hanoi on August 21 while receiving a delegation from the Royal Thai Army’s Defence Force, led by General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, Chief of Defence for the Thai Royal Armed Forces.
The Government leader spoke highly of the results of the talks between Thanasak Patimaprakorn and Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, saying that the visit will make practical contributions to the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
He said as a neighbouring country of Thailand, Vietnam is pleased with the fine development of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially economics, trade, investment, tourism and security.
The two armies have seen effective cooperation in joint sea patrols, which contributed to enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two nations, he added.
PM Dung suggested the two sides cooperate more effectively in the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), including the East Sea issue, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
For his part, General Thanasak Patimaprakorn said his visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two armies, especially in human resource training and rescue. He affirmed to try his best to boost the ties between the two countries in general and the two armies in particular.-VNA
