In the firstphase, the World Bank provides 9.7 million USD in non-refundable, whichis extracted from the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of theMontreal Protocol on ozone-depleting substances.
Designed to help Vietnam reduce its consumption of HCFCs in thepolyurethane foam sector, the project will apply the latest technologiesto eliminate nearly 2,500 tonnes of HCFC-141b in 12 large foamproduction enterprises.
It will also supportpolicies, regulations and technical activities to curb HCFCsconsumption, as well as help reduce energy consumption and increaseenergy productivity for household air conditioners manufactured inVietnam .
Vietnam has joined the Montreal Protocol since January 1994.-VNA
