The “Prudential-Good Essay, Good Writing” contest for the Mekong Delta region was launched in Can Tho city on September 22.
According to Dean of the Philosophy Department at the Ho Chi Minh University of Pedagogy Nguyen Thanh Thi, head of the organising board, the event will focus on creativity, sensitivity of expression and good handwriting skills among students.
The annual contest will take place in schools at district, municipal and provincial levels, aiming to encourage secondary students to nurture their literature reading and essay writing skills, he said.
The final round and award ceremony are scheduled for November 28-29 in Ben Tre province, whose 50 poor gifted students will receive scholarships, each worth 1 million VND (45 USD).
Ten computer sets will be presented to the education and training departments of Mekong Delta provinces.
Since it began in the Mekong Delta in 2004, the contest has attracted tens of thousands of local students.-VNA
