Hanoi (VNA) - The Petrovietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) is focusing all its efforts on transporting LNG by rail from the South to the North to meet the fuel needs of industrial and residential consumers, especially amidst shortages caused by super typhoon Yagi, that hit Vietnam on September 7, and its subsequent floods.
With efforts to mitigate the impact of the natural disaster and restart industrial production and residential consumption, PV GAS has maintained a stable supply of gas products in the northern region.
Specifically, since September 9, PV GAS has resumed the operation of Ham Rong-Thai Binh gas system to provide low-pressure gas and CNG, and supplied LPG from the floating storage and port facilities in Thai Binh province and Hai Phong city, with a production volume of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 tonnes per day.
In the coming days, when industrial production and residential demand recover, the corporation will continue to ensure a steady supply of products at stable prices from both domestic and imported gas sources.
In an effort to ensure comprehensive energy supply for the northern region, on September 9 afternoon, a train carrying the first 16 ISO tanks containing LNG reached Dong Anh station in Hanoi, after a journey of 1,700km.
From there, they are expected to be transported by specialised tankers to industrial consumers in the region./.
