Quang Binh, Lao province agree to strengthen cooperation

Quang Binh (VNA) – The central province of QuangBinh and the Lao province of Savannakhet have agreed to strengthen theircooperation in border-related issues.

Under a cooperation document signed at the talks in QuangBinh on May 23 between the two provinces’ authorities, they will continuepromoting close and effective cooperation between their governments at alllevels and their border management and protection forces.

They will encourage people to participate in theprotection of the shared borderline and border markers and raise the publicsense of responsibility in reporting and preventing crimes in the border areas.

At their talks, the two sides agreed that Quang Binh andSavannakhet maintained good relations at all levels in the fields of defence,security and border issue and organised annual provincial-level talks in recentyears. They also enhanced education for their officials and people on law andborder-related issues through a variety of approaches.

Furthermore, the governments of the two provinces haveinvested in local infrastructure and socio-economic development and povertyreduction efforts to improve living standards of people living along theirshared border.-VNA

Dien Bien provides training for northern Lao cadres
