Tran Tieu Vy, a 18-year-old girl from Quang Nam province, overcame 42 other finalists to take the crown of Miss Vietnam 2018 in the grand finale of the pageant in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 night.
Vy was one of the youngest contestants at the 16th edition of Vietnam's largest beauty pageant and will represent Vietnam at the Miss World contest later this year.
She graduated from high school a few months ago and is now a first-year student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.
As the winner of Miss Vietnam 2018, Vy will receive a cash prize of VND500 million (US$21,500).
The runners-up were 20-year-old Bui Phuong Nga from Ha Tinh province, currently a student at the National Economics University in Hanoi, and 21-year-old Nguyen Thi Thuy An from the southern province of Kien Giang, who is a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
Nga and An will represent Vietnam at the Miss Grand International and Miss International contests respectively./.
