Quang Ngai strives towards higher food production

The central province of Quang Ngai has targeted to maintain a high growth in agricultural production as a key to develop the province’s economy.

The province set ambitious targets for the next harvestin all sectors, including food production, breeding, and aquaculture at arecent conference to review agricultural production and aquaculture2014 and implement a production plan for Winter-Spring 2014-2015 crop.

Itaims to achieve an output of 479,700 tonnes of food, including 421,200tonnes of rice, and raise the numbers of cattle to 748,000 and poultryto 4.6 million while aquatic production is 6,580 tonnes.

In aneffort to achieve the targets, Quang Ngai set up a seasonal calendar foreach region and encouraged farmers to choose from the main varietieswhile expanding organic vegetable production in accordance with VietGapstandards.

Finance ministry eyes flexible tax thresholds

In a draft law amending several articles of the laws on personal income tax, corporate income tax and value-added tax, Vietnam's finance ministry proposed scrapping the fixed revenue threshold of 500 million VND. Instead, it suggested the threshold be set by the Government based on prevailing economic conditions.
