Red River Delta development conference to take place on Feb. 12

A conference on the development of the Hong (Red River) Delta region under the chair of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will be organised on February 12 in the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh’s Ha Long city.

Hanoi (VNA) - A conference on the development of theHong (Red River) Delta region under the chair of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhwill be organised on February 12 in the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh’sHa Long city.

This information was announced at a press meeting held in Hanoi onFebruary 9. With the theme “Linking Development – Innovation – Green andSustainability", the event will attract the participation of leaders ofthe Government and ministries, sectors and localities in the region, as well asdomestic and foreign investors.

It is expected that about 900 delegates will attend theconference, the largest number of recent regional conferences.

In addition, the announcement of the Government's action planto implement Resolution No 30-NQ/TW, investment promotion activities in the RedRiver Delta and the master plan for Quang Ninh province in the 2021-2030period, and the Ha Long city master plan to 2040 will also be heldduring the event.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the region’ssocio-economic growth has seen positive results. The average economic growth inthe 2005-2020 period reached 7.94% a year, higher than the national average.Its economic scale has increased rapidly, accounting for 29.4% of the country’sGDP.

The Red River Delta is also a region with a strong and dynamicprivate sector with the second largest number of enterprises in the country. Ittakes the second place in attracting FDI, accounting for 31.4% of the country'stotal FDI capital.

Within the framework of the conference, there will be 20 ODAprojects with a capital scale of more than 2 billion USD signed withinternational donors. Another 18 investment certificates, four investmentdecisions and two memorandums of understanding will also be granted./.

Data presented in the report reflects effective migration governance in recent years. The average recruitment cost paid by migrant workers dropped by 23.8%, from 164.9 million VND (6,400 USD) in 2021 to 125.7 million VND in 2025.
