Phu Yen asked to take stronger actions in combating IUU fishing

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien asked the south central province of Phu Yen to take stronger actions in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, while making a field trip to the Dong Tac fishing port in Tuy Hoa city on February 26.

The People's Committee of the south-central province of Phu Yen has required relevant authorities and coastal localities to implement various solutions to eliminate “three-no's” vessels (no registrations, no checks, no licences), contributing to the country’s efforts to have the European Commission (EC)’s “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood lifted soon.

Phu Yen tightens control of fishing vessels in combating IUU fishing

Authorities in the south central coastal province of Phu Yen have tightened the control of the entry and exit of fishing vessels at ports to prevent unqualified boats from exploitation activities, so no violations relating to illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing have been recorded in the locality since 2019.
