Rice export exceeds 2.8 million tonnes

Vietnam earned almost 1.2 billion USD from shipping more than 2.8 million tonnes of rice to foreign markets since the outset of this year, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

The VFA also said that the domestic prices remain stable, ensuring profits for farmers.

MekongDelta provinces are currently planting summer-autumn crops across 1.7million hectares and harvesting 3.54 million tonnes of rice in 650,000hectares, favourable conditions for enterprises to collect material ricefor export at the end of 2015.

In 2014, Vietnam exported6.32 million tonnes of rice, earning 2.84 billion USD and becoming thethird largest rice exporter in the world after Thailand and India,according to the association.-VNA

Hang noted that cross-border e-commerce is creating fresh opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Banks shift to cash-flow lending to unlock capital for SMEs

Vietnam, Bangladesh eye to foster economic ties

Addressing the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong highlighted the fruitful development of the bilateral ties over the past 53 years, noting that trade turnover has consistently exceeded 1.1 billion USD despite global disruptions. The two sides are now striving to raise the figure to 2 billion USD in the coming years.

Hanoi strengthens oversight of transition to E10 biofuel

To ensure compliance with the transition roadmap, the Hanoi Market Surveillance Sub-Department has requested petrol traders to proactively review and upgrade storage tanks, fuel pumps and other technical conditions necessary for E10 distribution, thereby preventing disruptions to fuel supply serving consumption and production demands across the capital.
