The Korean Foundation for International Exchange (KFIE) will continue funding the KF-Samsung Scholarship programme for excellent Vietnamese students in the years of 2011, 2013, and 2015.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect, signed in Hanoi on Aug. 25 between KFIE and the Ministry of Education and Training, said the foundation will inject a yearly sum of 100,000 USD in the scholarship programme.
Since 1992, the Korean foundation has involved in cultural exchange, research and education progammes and projects designed for Vietnamese students and officials.
Thanks to KFIE’s funding, the KF-Samsung Scholarship programme has since 1997granted scholarships to 1,311 Vietnamese students with excellent academic records and first-rate students living with difficulties.
On the occasion, the Ministry of Education and Training presented the insignia “For the Cause of Education” to KFIE President Kim Byung Kook for his great contributions to education development in Vietnam./.
