Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodoon February 23 obtained full support from the ruling Indonesian DemocraticParty of Struggle (PDIP) to run for a second five-year term in the presidentialrace in 2019.

Speaking at the PDIP’s Congress in Bali, PDIP ChairwomanMegawati Soekarnoputri declared Widodo as the presidential candidate from theparty.

Widodo is required to find a new mate running for his deputy.

Recent local polls showed President Widodo has gained a highersupport rate than other political figures for the next presidential term from2019-2024.

No other party has officially announced president candidatefor the election so far.

Earlier, the Indonesian Elections Commission has announced14 political parties eligible to run in legislative and presidential electionsscheduled on April 17 next year with campaign period to start in October thisyear.-VNA
