Russia eager for joint ventures with Vietnam

Russia sees Vietnam as an important hub for its products and it is keen to establish joint venture companies for goods production in Vietnam.
Russia sees Vietnam as an important hub for its products to enter other countries in Southeast Asia and it is keen to establish joint venture companies for goods production in Vietnam , said the Russian Trade and Industry Minister.

Minister Victor B. Khristenko delivered the message to State President Nguyen Minh Triet during their meeting in Hanoi on October 21.

The Russian minister is currently here for the 13 th meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.

Both host and guest shared their joy at developments in the Vietnam-Russia relationships over the past years.

They agreed that based on the traditional political ties, the two countries’ economic, trade and investment cooperation has harvested encouraging achievements.

Besides their successes in bilateral cooperation projects in oil and gas exploration, the two countries are mulling on a possibility of carrying out cooperation projects in mechanical engineering and auto assembly industries in a third country.

President Triet told the Russian minister that Vietnam expects an increase in Russia ’s investment in the country in such fields as aviation, nuclear power generation, and the development of metro system.

He appreciated the Intergovernmental Committee’s signing of a roadmap to implement a mid-term Russia-Vietnam action plan for the trade and investment sectors from now to 2012, and asked the two countries’ relevant ministries and sectors to focus efforts on deploying cooperative programmes./.
