Hanoi (VNA) – Russia welcomesthe intention of both US President Donald Trump and the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un to continue bilateral dialogue onthe Korean Peninsula’s situation, Russian ForeignMinistry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 28.
"We positively evaluate the disposition of the US President and the topleader of the DPRK to continue the US-DPRK dialogue," Zakharova was citedby China’s Xinhua news agency as saying at a press conference.
The dialogue must be supported by concrete measures, Zakharova said, addingthat resolving the problems on the Korean Peninsula takes time and needsmaximum restraint by all the parties involved.
The same day, China has also expressed its hope that the US and the DPRKwill keep talking about the nuclear issue, which, it said, will not be solvedovernight.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said he had yet to hear what US President Donald Trump or DPRK leader KimJong-un had to say about their second meeting in Hanoi.
However, he hoped that everyone can realise that the nuclear problem on theKorean peninsula has been going on for many years, and that solving thisproblem is definitely not something that can be achieved overnight.
It is not an easy process, otherwise it would not have dragged on until today,Lu said.
Lu reiterated Beijing’s call for Washington and Pyongyang to take care of eachother’s legitimate concerns, and continue to maintain such a dialogue.-VNA
