Russia helps Vietnam in atomic energy

As planned, the Rosatom Group will provide training for about 70 Vietnamese staff, Chairman Sergey Kirienko told State President Nguyen Minh Triet in Hanoi on September 1.

Russian experts will continue close cooperation with Vietnam to build the most modern and safest possible nuclear power plant and Russia wants to help Vietnam become a nuclear energy centre for peaceful purpose in ASEAN, he affirmed.

President Triet spoke highly about the significance of Chairman Sergey Kirienko’s current visit, saying that the two sides will continue accelerating the nuclear power plant project.

The President stressed the importance of construction of a nuclear power plant for Vietnam. Therefore, Vietnam highly values expert Russian assistance in building the country’s first nuclear power plant, he said.

He said he wished Russian experts would provide Vietnam with capital and technical assistance, particularly human resource training and technology transfer, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.

In the atmosphere of celebrating the 65th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, President Triet recognised the support and assistance of the former Soviet Union people in the past and the Russian people at present to the Vietnamese people’s victories in the two resistance wars and during the current renewal process. He said Vietnam wants to continue promoting comprehensive cooperation with Russia for development./.
