The court of the central Russian city of Ulyanovsk on March 26 began a trial of an extremist group called ‘Simbirsk White Power’ for their racially motivated attacks on foreigners, including Vietnamese.

The group was first formed in 2010 with nine members, but all of them were arrested and sent to court in March the same year after they committed several crimes against foreigners. The main culprit, a 21-year-old man from Ulyanovsk was sentenced to 22 years in prison, and 8 others were jailed from 2-21 years.

In April, 2011, the group surfaced again with 3 members. They were arrested after conducting an attack on a Vietnamese national, causing damages of around 300,000 RUB (10,000 USD). Many images posted on the internet by the group itself showed they also attacked other foreigners and local anti-neo Nazi young people.

The three defendants face sentences of up to 8 years in prison.-VNA
