Jakarta (VNA) – Sailing vessel 286-Le Quy Don of the Vietnam People’s Navy on July 17 arrived in Surabaya to start a visit to Indonesia to exchange with the Indonesian Navy.
The ship carries 120 naval officiers and soliders as well as cadets from the Vietnam Naval Academy.
Welcoming the Vietnamese guests at Surabaya naval base, Marine Colonel Muhammad Taufik highlighted that the visit will bolster cooperation and exchanges between the two navies.
Head of the Vietnamese delegation, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Naval Academy Nguyen Dinh Giang expressed his belief that the visit will contribute to deepening mutual understanding and trust between the armed forces and navies of both sides.
After the reception, the Indonesian delegation boarded the vessel to exchange with their Vietnamese peers.
During the visit from July 17 to 20, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to engage in various exchange activities with the Indonesian Navy.
This is an opportunity for Vietnamese officers, soldiers, and cadets to improve their professional knowledge, combat readiness, and weapon handling skills; foster interaction with Indonesian courterparts, and explore Indonesian culture, history and people.
It is the second visit of the Vietnamese vessel to Indonesia. Its first trip was conducted in 2019./.
