Hanoi (VNA) - The search volume for Vietnam's tourism via Google's market trend tracking tool grew 10%-25% between mid-March and early June, ranking 7th in the world and indicating a strong demand recovery.
As reported by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam was the only Southeast Asian nation listed in the top 10 destinations with the highest growth worldwide. Thailand ranked 15th, Indonesia 16th, Malaysia 18th, and the Philippines 20th.
Vietnamese localities that received the most searches in the period were Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Hoi An.
The biggest sources of search about Vietnam’s tourism include the US, Japan, Australia, India, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, Germany and France. India and Australia posted strong growth potential, as airlines have recently restored and expanded flight routes connecting Vietnamese cities with those of the two countries.
Also according to Google's data, the number of searches has increased by 3-4 times compared to the same period last year, when Vietnam just reopened its tourism.
In the first five months of this year, the nation welcomed nearly 4.6 million foreign visitors, achieving about 57.5% the 2023 target. With good growth momentum and favourable policies, Vietnam’s tourism industry is likely to meet and exceed its 8-million target set for this year./.
