A seminar discussing the building of new rural areas in the central region was held in Quang Ngai province on August 30.
The two-day event brought together representatives from 13 central provinces, a number of international organisations in Vietnam, and the Hanoi and Hue agriculture universities.
The seminar is designed to share and review experience and lessons drawn out from provinces that have carried out a pilot model of new rural areas, rural development projects and programmes in the region, and improve mechanisms and policies to serve the national target programme on building new rural areas.
Representatives from international organisations and provinces presented 12 reports on four topics, including overall planning and the private sector’s engagement in improving people’s livelihood; diversification of agricultural economic activities and employment creation; support for ethnic minorities, gender-related issues and sustainable development; and management of natural resources, environment and disaster prevention./.
