A seminar entitled “The Asian Development Bank’s consultancy and the national partnership strategy for the 2012-2015 period” took place in the southern province of Binh Duong .
The event brought together representatives from almost 100 domestic and foreign businesses which are operating in the province.
ADB representatives praised Vietnam ’s efforts to realise the target of becoming an industrialised country by 2020 as well as its achievements in poverty reduction and response to natural disasters and climate change.
The bank pledged to continue provide more loans for Vietnam to achieve greater successes in these fields, especially in social development, health care and education.
Participants were told that the ADB is the third largest international provider of official development assistance (ODA) capital to Vietnam .
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Liem said that the bank has contributed remarkably to the province’s socio-economic development, particularly to technical infrastructure, environmental and water supply projects.
Binh Duong needs more capital from ADB and other international donors to develop its housing, road and environmental projects in the next five years, he said./.
