Seven provinces to expand e-customs

Long An, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Thua Thien – Hue, Tay Ninh andBinh Dinh provinces have been judged to have sufficient conditions,including IT infrastructure and other needed facilities, for theexpansion, according to the Customs General Department's Reform andModernisation Division.

The Ministry of Finance willoversee the expansion in cooperation with relevant agencies andprovincial Customs departments.

The GeneralDepartment of Customs (GDC) is preparing detailed plans to providetraining for staff in provincial Customs Departments so they will havethe skills to carry out the expansion next month.

The provincial Customs Departments are working with relevant departmentsand agencies to select firms in their localities that will makee-customs declarations this year onwards.

Theexpansion of e-customs procedures had been carried out in 13 provincialand municipal Customs Departments as of the end of last year.

Of these 13, seven have been able to expand e-customs procedures to all their sub-departments, according to the GDC.
With the addition of seven provinces, the GDC's target of having18-20 provincial and municipal Customs Departments implementing theexpansion of e-customs procedures by the end of this year will be met./.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures. Applicants would no longer be required to resubmit documents, and certification or information requests could not be turned into discretionary licensing through an “ask – give” mechanism.
