Speaking at the annual event, which took place on the occasion of the Vietnam PressDay (June 21), President Tran Dai Quang acknowledged and expressed hisappreciation for the great contributions made to the country by journalists andpress organisations nationwide.
He hoped that the press would continue to act as a bridge between the Party-Governmentand the people, while paying an active role in supervising the operations ofthe Government.
“The journalists should further participate in the fight against corruption,wastefulness and the moral degradation of society,” he added.

According to the awards’ council, 1,637 works from 214 press organisations andindividuals were submitted for competition.
Out of 129 finalists, 95 won awards, of which seven were top prizes.
Journalists from the Vietnam News Agency scooped five prizes, including a top award.-VNA
