Short film contest features Earth Hour 2013

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a nationwide short-film competition in response to the Earth Hour 2013 campaign.

The films, not more than 10 minutes long, should present views fromdifferent angles on energy saving and environment protection.

Both professional and amateur movie makers are encouraged to take partin the contest. Entries should be sent before 17h on March 10 to IPROcompany, 20 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hanoi, or posted ontoYoutube.com and Mediafire.com, with links sent by email togiotraidat@ipro.com.

The prizes include one special prizeworth 15 million VND and a creative prize. There will be another prizefor the film receiving the most votes by viewers.

VietnamEarth Hour 2013 campaign is sponsored by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) andElectrolux Vietnam Co.Ltd, with technical assistance of the DanishEmbassy in Vietnam . The main event will be organised in front ofHanoi Opera House from 8 pm on March 23.

From 2013, theglobal Earth Hour will be held on the 3 rd Saturday of March, insteadof the last Saturday as in previous years.-VNA

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year. As two of those days fall on the weekend, they would receive two additional compensatory days off, bringing the total holiday to seven consecutive days.
