Singapore (VNA) – Jover Chew, former owner of Mobile Air, a mobile phone shop in Singapore’s Sim Lim Square, was jailed for 33 months for cheating his customers.

The 33-year-old man was also fined 2,000 SGD for a charge of insulting behaviour, according to the Singapore court’s ruling on November 30.

He was earlier charged for cheating 26 customers out of 16,149 SGD over 10-month period.

Chew pledged guilty to 12 charges in court on November 16, including 10 counts of swindling.

Four of Chew’s former employees are now serving 4-14 months in prison.

The swindling case was brought to light in 2014 as a video of a Vietnamese tourist begging Chew for a refund was spread on social media.
