Hanoi (VNA) – Singaporean Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Defence Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman discussed measures to foster bilateral cooperation with Moroccan high-ranking officials on March 29 in Morocco’s capital Rabat during his visit to the country.

In a meeting with Moroccan Minister for National Defence Abdeltif Loudyil, the two officials focused on ways to bolster military and defence cooperation.

According to a statement released following the meeting, the two countries will step up exchange of technical expertise in cyber security, maritime safety and defence industry.

On this occasion, the Singaporean Minister commended the considerable progress made by Morocco in recent years, praising the country’s active commitment to peace and stability at the regional and international levels.

During his visit, Osman met with the host’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Nasser Bourita. The two sides lauded the bilateral friendship and cooperation in various fields, which were given an important impetus after the official visit of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to Singapore in 2005.

Discussions touched also upon Morocco's candidacy for the status of "Sectoral Dialogue Partner" with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Singapore assumes the rotating chairmanship.

In addition to Osman's visit, a Singaporean economic delegation, composed of leaders of major businesses, is expected to meet with representatives of ministerial departments and the private sector to explore investment and partnership opportunities in various areas, including engineering, infrastructure, food processing industry, and aeronautics and electronics. - VNA
