Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Simon Wong, Wie Kuen has committed to promoting multi-faceted cooperation and investment with the central province of Quang Nam, especially in tourism.

While meeting with Quang Nam provincial party committee secretary Nguyen Duc Hai on May 18, the Ambassador said Singapore will create opportunities for its tourists to visit Vietnam through domestic tourism companies.

“With experiences in the tourism business, we will work closely with the non-smoking industry in Quang Nam province for mutual benefit”, the diplomat said.

He noted that his country plans to conduct numerous cruise liners each with a capacity of carrying 2,000-3,000 tourists to Quang Nam as there is no direct flight from Singapore to the province.

On the same day, the Singaporean ambassador paid a working visit to Chu Lai open economic zone in an effort to seek opportunities for investment and cooperation.

For his part, Hai expressed his pleasure at socio-economic achievements Singapore obtained over the global economic crisis.

He said he hoped Singapore will soon carry out projects and investment programmes in Vietnam in general and in Quang Nam province in particular with the focus on tourism, education and industry.

“Quang Nam is willing to create the most favourable conditions for Singaporean investors,” affirmed the ambassador./.
