Singaporean, Danish firms shake hands in developing agricultural project in Cambodia

The Singapore-based firm Hong Lai Huat (HLH) has shaken hands with Skiold A/S of Denmark to consider investment into a 1-billion-USD Cambodia-Singapore Agriculture Special Economic Zone project.
Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Singapore-based firm Hong Lai Huat (HLH) has shaken hands with Skiold A/S of Denmark to consider investment into a 1-billion-USD Cambodia-Singapore Agriculture Special Economic Zone project.

The Edge newspaper of Singapore reported that the objective of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the two firms is to create the foundation for the first mutual platform to enhance trade and economic cooperation and technical exchanges in the field of poultry and cattle farming as well as seed processing for Cambodia.

Under the MoU, both companies agreed to initiate the setting up of livestock and seed production in the agriculture economic zone, while conducting a feasibility study of a new project on livestock and agricultural production, and creating more job opportunities within the next six months.

HLH General Director Ong Jia Jing showed pleasure at the potential collaboration between the two companies in the development of the Cambodia-Singapore Agriculture Special Economic Zone.

Meanwhile, Sussie Ketit, Regional Director for SKiold A/S expressed the hope to see positive result spin-offs from the initiative not only for Cambodia but also for Singapore through adopting Danish technologies to raise productivity, apply R&D, and strengthen food resilience and sustainability.

HLH has run several high rise development projects in Cambodia’s Phnom Penh and the coastal city of Sihanoukville./.
