Singapore’s 59th National Day observed in HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) held a gathering on August 23 to mark the 59th National Day of the Republic of Singapore (August 9, 1965-2024).

Chairman of the Vietnam – Singapore Friendship Association Lam Dung Tien highlighted that the economic ties between the two nations have unceasingly developed, and the people-to-people diplomacy been enhanced in a more trustworthy and closer manner after more than 50 years they set up their diplomatic relations.

He expressed his belief that the two nations will record breakthrough development in the future, given their peoples boasting industriousness, creativity, hospitality, and love for peace.

Singaporean Consul General Pang Te Cheng described the event as a demonstration for the time-tested relations and strategic partnership between the two countries, which have developed strongly and been built on mutual respect and win-win cooperation.

He spoke highly of the HUFO’s role the friendship between the two peoples, which is the core of the bilateral relations, adding the vibrancy of the Vietnamese community in Singapore and the Singaporean people in the south of Vietnam has contributed to linking the two societies, helping strongly develop their friendship./.
