Six Vietnamese billionaires on Forbes list

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The 2021 Forbes Annual World's Billionaires Listincluded six Vietnamese nationals.

The billionaires, made up of five men and one woman, have a total networth of 16.7 billion USD.

Pham Nhat Vuong of Vingroup, the country's firstUS-dollar billionaire, tops the Vietnamese list with 7.3 billion USD, upby 1.7 billion USD from the previous year. He ranks 334th in the world's most wealthy,a big jump from 2013 when he first made the list with 1.5 billion USD at 974thplace. 

The country's only female billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao made her fifthappearance this year with 2.8 billion USD in net worth. She is Vice Chairwomanof HDBank and Vice President and CEO of VietJet Air. 

Tran Ba Duong, Chairman and founder of THACO, was also present in the listwith a net worth of 1.6 billion USD. THACO initially started off as anauto dealer for foreign brands but has since gradually expanded to assemblingcars and manufacturing buses and trucks.

Others on the list this year included Masan Group Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang, HoaPhat Group Chairman Tran Dinh Long and Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh./.

Vietnam, UK boost economic, trade ties

Over the past decade, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the UK have made remarkable strides. On trade, the two countries have implemented the UKVFTA for more than four years, and most recently, the UK’s accession as the 12th member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) has further strengthened bilateral cooperation.

HCM City sees strong recovery in industrial production

Vietnam targets 4.5 billion USD in cashew exports for 2025

Figures from the first six months show cashew exports reached 346,800 tonnes, earning 2.36 billion USD, a drop of 2.7% in volume but a surge of 20.4% in value annually. The rise was largely attributed to a significant increase in export prices, which helped offset lower shipment volumes.

Hai Phong expects strong wave of investment from APEC member economies

Hai Phong will present investment registration certificates for 32 projects and sign seven Memoranda of Understanding, with total committed capital exceeding 15.6 billion USD. Institutional reforms open new investment frontier for realty sector

Assessing the impact of the new model, Director at Savills Vietnam’s Advisory Services Do Thi Thu Giang said that the deeper decentralisation of authority to local administrations will help reduce processing time for construction permits and project approvals, thereby reducing opportunity costs and increasing investment efficiency.
