The nearly 4 million USDprogramme will open up numerous opportunities for local firms to jointhe global supply chain with high value-added products and services inthe traditional professions of fine arts and handicrafts, seafoodprocessing, and fruit cultivation, said Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Vo Thanh Thong.
The project, which hasbeen carried out from 2013 and will last until 2017, is a continuationof another Swiss-funded programme assisting Vietnam in trade and exportpromotion in the 2004-2010 period.
In addition toincreasing SMEs’ contributions to the national export turnover byimproving their access to trade promotion services at regional and lowerlevels, the four-year programme will also support the establishment of anational export council.
This aims to reinforceGovernment officials’ capabilities in overseeing and evaluating therealisation of the national export strategy.
Throughthe Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the SwissGovernment has supported Vietnam’s sustainable economic growth since1993 and has pledged to fully support the country in the long run.-VNA
