A SMS campaign aimed at raising funds to build boarding houses for pupils in remote and border areas across the country was launched in Hanoi on August 20.
The launching ceremony was jointly held by Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF), Thanh Nien Newspaper, the Vietnam Red Cross and the National Humanity Portal.
Initiated by HCMCYU and Thanh Nien Newspaper, the programme will be implemented from 2013 to 2017.
Donors can give money by sending messages to the switchboard 1406. Each message will contribute 12,000 VND to the fund.
They can also send money through VTC pay portal at thanhnien.com, thanhgiong.vn and nhabantru.thanhnien.com.vn or directly to the account number 068704070066977 at Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HD Bank) and 14010001038211 at the Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV) branch in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Standing Vice Chairman of the VYF Nguyen Phi Long, the SMS campaign, which will run until October 14 is calling on individuals and organisations to contribute to the fund in order to help improve living and studying conditions for pupils in disadvantaged areas.
Also at the ceremony, the VYF granted a certificate to actor Xuan Bac as a goodwill ambassador for the “building boarding houses for children” programme, which is co-organised by the VYF and Thanh Nien Newspaper from 2013 to 2017.-VNA
