Free surgery has been given to 150 disabled ethnic minority children in the northern mountainous province of Son La between November 3 and 10.
The campaign is jointly conducted by the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the centre for Vietnamese disabled children (Centre II) and the provincial General Hospital.
All surgery costs, about 1.5 million VND (70 USD) for each patient, are covered by health insurance. In addition, each of the beneficiaries also receives 300,000 VND (14 USD) from t he National Fund for Vietnamese Children.
Since 2012, more than 400 children with disabilities in the province’s remote areas got free surgery.-VNA
